Privacy Policy

The short version

What TrackBuds finds stays on your iPhone. The app has no account system, so we never learn who you are, and Bluetooth scans and saved locations are never sent anywhere. What does leave your device: anonymous usage events that tell us whether the app is working, purchase records handled by our subscription provider, and, if you allow it, a measurement of which advertisement brought you here. Each of those is described below.

Bluetooth data

TrackBuds scans for nearby Bluetooth devices to show you what is around and how strong each signal is. Detected device names and signal strengths are processed in memory on your iPhone while the app is open. They are not stored permanently and are never transmitted anywhere.

Location data

TrackBuds asks for location access ("while using the app") for one purpose: saving the spot where you found a device on the map. Your location is used only when you choose to save a spot. It is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party.

Data stored on your device

When you save a found location, TrackBuds keeps the following on your device only: the device name, an optional note, map coordinates, and the date. You can delete saved locations in the app at any time, and deleting the app removes all of this data permanently.

In-app purchases

Payments for TrackBuds Pro are processed by Apple through your Apple ID; we never see your payment details. To manage subscription status, the app uses RevenueCat, which processes a random anonymous identifier and your purchase history (product, price, transaction dates) on our behalf. This does not identify you personally. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.

Usage analytics

TrackBuds sends anonymous usage events (which screens were opened, whether a feature completed or failed, the app version and device model) to Amplitude and Google Analytics for Firebase, so problems can be found and fixed and so we can see where people get stuck. These events carry a random identifier, never your name or email address, and they never include a detected device name, a Bluetooth address or a saved location. Session recordings

To see where people get stuck, TrackBuds records how sessions unfold through Amplitude's session replay: the screens you open, the taps and swipes you make, and how the app responded. Text you type is masked on your device before anything is sent, so a recording shows the shape of a session rather than its contents, and nothing outside the app is ever captured.

Advertising measurement

TrackBuds measures whether an install came from one of our advertisements. Apple's own attribution service tells us which campaign led to a download, without identifying you. If we ask for tracking permission through Apple's prompt and you allow it, that measurement can also use your device's advertising identifier. Decline and the app works exactly the same way. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Tracking.

What we do not collect

• No account or sign-up, so we do not know who you are
• No selling or sharing of your data with data brokers
• No contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access

Children

TrackBuds is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. As described above, the app has no account system and does not ask anyone for personal details.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
